about me
this is an adventure
...and a photo blog. images of the broken beauty in every day life.
All photos are taken by me, Suzanna de Ridder, a photographer and writer who doesn't really have a home anywhere in the world. I've lived in Syria, Ukraine and Holland, but at the moment home is where I lay my hat(or aqua-blue knitted beret, if you want to be precise)which is in Halifax, NS, Canada, where I'm a journalism student at the University of King's College. And a part-time fine arts student at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University. Yep, I'm busy.
My photos strive to express the philosophy that "on the staircase of the haunted house of life, art is the one board that doesn't creak." which is a quote I read somewhere sometime.
My photos are much influenced by my moods&thoughts, and my moods are mostly influenced by music...the National, Jenn Grant, Sigur Ros, Woodpigeon, Old Man Luedecke, Basia Bulat...check 'em out!
I also ramble on about things a lot (such as now) which I suppose is why I like taking pictures. No risk of rambling on about nonsensical things to stunned&frightened strangers.
Just the click of a shutter & silence.
